- Still hilarious and I kinda remember those crow guys in the older series (and they're kinda adorable too)! Great first 5 minutes. I guess some of the modern anime are really missing some good ol fashioned slapstick humor.

Yeah. It's great having a "rival" that's also as scummy/perverted as the MC, except handsomer or richer, but not too annoying that they're still hilarious.

Imagine if one day Lum decides to go with Mendou instead lol.

Mendou might be handsome and rich, and also as perverted as Ataru, but Ataru is not scared of the dark and did save the Earth from being invaded.
And regardless of AtaruXLum being basically canon from the onset (plus the whole manga and old series), I think Lum can respect Ataru saving his world, and you know, being the victor's "prize" from losing their invasion attempt.

honestly hope we see Mendou's sister. LoL. Ya Mendou is pretty much like Ataru but pretends he's better believes he's superior to Ataru. He always frowns when the girls aren't looking at him.

Modern anime is def missing this slapstick humor. This reminds me so much of Ranma (yes I know they're both by the same creator.) I always loved watching Ranma bc of it's old 90s style anime jokes. Inuyasha and pretty much anime from before 2010 had it. It's so refreshing to see it again

FR, it's a little sad to see so few comments, but then again, this isn't exactly the paying customer main gathering. People tend to *demand* dumber things these days and without paying. Alas, I trust Japan has managed to keep it's taste, keeps these studios well fed and keeps itself away from western trends (Luckily the people that ruin things hardly have the endurance to learn professional Japanese). I mean, Arifureta got a second season and movie, so all hope's not lost yet in that regard.

Taking you seriously is impossible when you say Arifureta is peak, and your history is isekai and uncensored fantasy anime. It just makes you a coward who can't enjoy actual p**n and just needs soft core anime. to be fare most of the older animes till like 2010 over used the slapstick humor especially the rom come/ harem once till they moved on to Tsundere love interest till that got over used and then went to the Isekai ganer till it got over used as a hole XD honestly a little slapstick is good as long as its not an over used running gag that at some point makes me think just how invincible is this guy from taking so much dmg and starts to be more annoying to see than funny ^_^

Cute girl + bikini + adorable voice that's almost as good as the original + flying, which means some great... views 👀, which is only helped by more modern animation. She's super cute in the opening too. It's hard not to waifu her... unless you're Ataru.
Also the humor helps a lot. Just dumb fanservice does not interest me much, and Rumiko got humor in spades.

I know this anime has definitely made me laugh like crazy every episode. And I didn't expect this to be a comedy anime. Still, it delivers on what I wanted to see.

Yeah, it's not only THE harem series (before harems were even a thing), it's also the ideal anime romantic comedy series, emphasis on the comedy part since most of them really aren't that funny. It's gonna be a good year since there's gonna be 46 episodes of this. Hopefully, they'll make more like the older series!

Omg you're right, that's why people are hating on it, because it's much classier than average trash harem I still love to watch, it's an old fashioned romcom anime with top tier quality. Like school rumble used to be. And many more used to be. Boku no zombie etc. Man I gotta rewatch some classics.

I watch some trash series myself, though unfortunately, I consider some of the popular series like Overlord in that. It's just not funny nor engaging enough for me.

Recognizing your individual tastes is a damn good thing. I remember a season I had to take a break from anime. Back then it was Kobayashi dragon and I believe Yuru camp. Both were definitely good anime, but not *that* good objectively, and subjectively they didn't fill me, even with the gorgeous seiyuu voices. That season I dropped all anime and simply took a break. Ever since then I find it much easier to drop popular anime if I don't like em. Like Spy family. Thanks to that break I still love anime.
